My project, titled “Digital media, metal music and global fan culture: their collective role in overcoming adversity and fostering resilient communities”, is an attempt at exploring the empowering role of metal music. I designed Cathartic Bridge, a digital magazine, to reflect the ability of metal music to offer solace and comfort to those who feel isolated and marginalised. Using symbolic imagery of a broken heart wrapped in a thorned chain, gothic illustrations and other powerful icons, I convey themes of resilience, strength, and community building with visuals and a fitting narrative. The magazine offers a digital platform for fans to connect, share experiences and find support, highlighting the transformative power of metal music on its fandom.
“Cathartic Bridge is more than a magazine, it’s a digital magazine where metalheads share their stories of resilience, strength, and community building. Through the power of music and digital connection, we explore how metal music unites us, help each other find their strengths and overcome adversity.”
