Nature is very close to us, sometimes within reach, sometimes far away. I have had a keen interest in nature since I was a child, at first with animals, and later when I have struggled with my work and studies, I would go to various parks to relax. The different trees and plants, in all their different forms, had their unique colours and beauty – I suddenly felt how amazing nature was. I now pay attention to all aspects of it.

Crystal-Bonsai is inspired by growing plants. While interest in growing plants like bonsai is increasing, providing sunlight and water is not easy for busy young people lacking the required knowledge and skills – Crystal Bonsai offers an alternative growing experience.

The project extends to a collection of repaired daily items inspired by the traditional Japanese Kintsugi method of applying gold dust in glue to purposely reveal the fissures in a broken vessel – elevating the object to a new status. I collected broken but significant items from friends and grew crystals to restore or repair them.
