Linear Clock
A new way to watch the clock. A fully functional motorised clock that plays on our expectations of analogue and digital. It has always confused me that clocks go round in a circle. Time to me is linear, a one way trip, a thought that is both exciting and terrifying, and our clocks should show that. Linear is a mechanical clock that rises and falls, each drop marking an hour or a day.
Bow Lamp
Bow task light is a table lamp to work, read and make by. Based on a violin bow, this live wire task light moves around a wheel on tensioned strings. Inspired by the sculpture of Calder, the engineering of Gaudi and a childhood obsession with moving toys, I wanted to design a functional sculpture based on physic principles.
