This graphic novel is inspired by Jung’s theory of Anima and Animus. He proposed that, at the early stages of life, we construct an opposite-gender image within our psyche, which helps us understand both our own gender and that of others, forming a complete gender consciousness and understanding of relationships. The male character’s counterpart is named Anima, and the female character’s counterpart is named Animus.
The graphic novel is divided into four chapters, corresponding to Jung’s four stages of understanding Animus: power, behavior, speech, and meaning. These stages reflect the female protagonist’s journey through the emergence of gender consciousness, initial knowledge accumulation and encounters, interactions with real people, and ultimately, self-understanding.
