“Insectiva” is a project focused on exploring and raising
awareness about the phenomenon of somatization, where
emotional and psychological distress manifests as physical
symptoms. The main outcome was a graphic novel. The
story of the protagonist, Annie, reflects the experiences of
somatization patients. Through a metaphorical worldview,
the project mirrors the attitude and phenomena of
neglecting emotions and the body, particularly within the
context of Chinese society and culture. The project aims to
explore the connections between emotional experiences
and bodily feelings, shedding light on a phenomenon often
overlooked.
