Working within the strict constraints of a Baileigh electric bead roller machine, traditionally used to create custom car panels, the creative process explored the limits and structural possibilities of drawing beads into thin sheet aluminium by hand. Experimenting and evolving from complex to simple, the resulting objects celebrate the purity of form created through a single industrial technique used to transform flimsy sheet materials into elegant structural components without the need for large expensive industrial presses.

A small stacking chair made from a rolled and beaded seat with an ergonomic spring and an ash wood frame. Its simple stacking design is modest and functional making it versatile for both the home and public spaces.

Along with a small, pack down cabinet made from 2.5mm aluminium with plywood sliding doors that subtly bring industrial techniques into a classic domestic object.

The Baileigh collection celebrates the industrial technique of embossing beads into thin sheets of metal to create structure and rigity.

In this collection, a structural technique widely used within the metal pressing industry using large multi-tonne presses is achieved by hand using an artisinal bead rolling machine which draws the metal through two rolling dies.
