My final project was an exploration into how we can utilise Web 3 tools to facilitate community action. Web 3 has given us another chance to explore what our society could look like by re-imagining the traditional models of decision-making, through the likes of decentralised communities (DAOs).

This concept was inspired by the role of slacktivism in social media (particularly amongst Gen Z) and the lack of real progress when it comes to issues like climate change. I researched into how decentralised communities could increase the transparency of impact, which would enable us to measure progress around these topics.

Explorers DAO is an impact DAO, aiming to tackle climate change through the lens of youth culture. Navigating how to drive crypto literacy, lower barriers to entry and foster a community was mostly achieved by taking a playful and inclusive approach to educational content and encouraging experimentation.

Overall, this project has taught me how Web 3 can create a more equitable society by allowing community-driven decision making and collaboration between like-minded people.

There’s something so unique about art school, being surrounded by young creatives who are driven by personal experiences and culture. Looking ahead, I feel inspired to keep experimenting and share these stories through creative strategy.
