My final piece is an interactive mixed-media installation using play to facilitate deeper social connections and support intimacy between adults. The design resembles a childhood ball pit, evoking comfort and nostalgia. However, the playful nature of the installation is underpinned by the game itself which invites the audience to not only engage in answering mature and intrusive questions, but to competitively debate these topics. Whilst this seemingly trivial game aims to stimulate debate, conversation and collective development, so too does it explore and potentially critique wider themes of honesty, social hierarchy, power dynamics and the delicate balance between conformity and nonconformity.
