For my Final Major Project I designed and created a mini collection of sportswear made for ballet dancers to celebrate the athleticism, dedication and physical challenges of the sport that often get overlooked for ‘ballet core’ which promotes a juvenile and over sexualised aesthetic. To do this I used garment references from sportswear and dance-wear to create 3 looks to show a team of dancers going to the hypothetical ballet Olympics to prove the athletic merit of the sport.
“Balletcore” means discipline, olympic , femininity, muscles, movement, fast, strong, athleticism.
