Textile – The Woven Stories of The City tells a story of a place, the textile industry, and the people. The story revolves around mid-century factories in Łódź, Poland, the workers, and the textiles produced. The project aims to educate, entertain, and interact with its intended audience. The outcome has three parts:

  • Interactive book (printed copy)
  • Interactive exercises
  • Digital book

These create a cohesive, portable exhibition that can be accessed at any time, anywhere in the world.

The book primarily focuses on textile production from the 1950s to the 1990s whilst the city of Łódź was undergoing significant economic and political changes. It tells the story of the city’s biggest manufacturers at the time, the workers, and textiles produced.

The story brings back places and people’s memories intertwined with textiles.
