In today’s world, millions of furniture pieces end up in landfills each year, often due to the high cost associated with reupholstering them. It is not uncommon for the entire fabric of a sofa to need replacing rather than just a simple cushion cover. This inconvenience often leads people to opt for buying a new sofa instead of dealing with the hassle of repairs.

Driven by a desire to address this issue, I embarked on a project to design a sofa that would revolutionize the way we approach sofa maintenance.

The general-purpose sofa is a solution that tackles the challenges faced by traditional sofas. This innovative design incorporates toggle-backed cushions that can be repaired and replaced individually, eliminating the need to replace the entire piece.

The beauty of the general-purpose sofa lies in its versatility. With the ability to swap out cushions, it offers a multitude of colour combinations and styles while maintaining the integrity of the frame. This means that each individual can personalize their sofa to suit their unique tastes and preferences.

By creating a sofa that addresses the need for cost-effective repairs and personalized aesthetics, I aim to contribute to a more sustainable and environmentally conscious approach to furniture design. The Panel Sofa not only reduces waste but also offers a practical and stylish solution that enhances the longevity and functionality of furniture.
