Future Foodies is a Workshop Model and Toolkit that enables students to become designers of their future foods and recognises teens’ potential as active participants in policy-making, leadership voices for food systems, and ambassadors for change.

It provides educators with all the tools needed to deliver food education and design sessions, during which pupils will have the opportunity to learn and be creative. From the outputs of the workshops, educators can use the designs to input into the creation of a School Food Policy, based on the students’ visions of the future.

With the objectives of increasing food sustainability literacy, generating ownership over food at school and developing a School Food Policy, the workshops are structured in 3 moments: Inspiration, Ideation, and Implementation. The output of the workshops is a zine that collects the students’ ideas and actions to be taken by the school.

The toolkit was developed in an interactive process, in which pilot workshops defined the formats of the tools, by providing valuable feedback and insights from the participants. The workshops also served as a platform for generating knowledge and ideas, which were then incorporated into the toolkit to make it more effective and adaptable for future use.
