My project’s focus i

My main intention was to research into various cultures within Cornwall, and to develop these into my garment, such as the fishing community using the silhouette of lobster pots for my skirt, and integrating boat rope as a belt. Also going into detail into mining culture where I found out about the gook balmaidens bonnet which I adapted into my piece. I also looked into the Cornish silk industry which led me to create my own print with oysters which is printed onto my gilet. I also stated I would visit the Tate in St. Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and in doing so helped me inspire the rope and metal structure of my upper skirt inspired by Hepworth’s sculptures using distinctive landscape qualities in Cornwall which I have done with a more modern approach for relevant to today’s wearer.
