Themed around ‘Momentary Existence’, the project raises the question of whether every form of existence is momentary yet infinite. As short as a thought, a figment of imagination or as long as the life span of spices and civilizations, every matter will come to an end. However, since every moment impacts future events, does every moment live eternally through its influence? Is influence a form of existence? What are the forms of existence? Is ‘exisiting’ a relative and subjective matter? By raising a series of questions, the project aims to encourage the audiences to discover their own interpretations of momentariness, eternity and existence, and the film is my interpretation of the theme.

The film is centred around two forms of momentary existence: the human life cycle and a figment of my imagination. It begins with two girls entering their mind-travel journey while listening to music. Through the journey, the girls use dance to manifest their thoughts on human life cycle and feelings during imagination. The performer of the ‘human life cycle’ dance was asked to express different life stages through movements; and the dance for the ‘imagination scene’ featured a more playful style that took reference from the Teletubbies dance. The ending sees the momentary mind-travel journey exists continually through its influence on the girls, with props in both sets being taken back to the ‘reality’.

Is every form of existence momentary yet infinite?

Is influence a form of existence?

What are the forms of existence?
