“Whoever leads a solitary life and yet now and then feels the need for some kind of contact, whoever wishes, in view of the never-ending changes in the hour of day, in the weather, in business affairs and so forth, just to have some arm or other that he might cling to within sight, such a man will not get by for long without a window on the street.”

Franz Kafka

The Window on the Street

For the Capstone Project, I focus on street views in my daily routine. Inspired by the spirit of “Flaneur”, I am especially interested in the windows I see while walking, which create a unique space for imagination and emotional prompting. Through a series of charcoal sketching, I hope to recreate the moments of encounter and convey the subtle and somehow peculiar feeling I feel, especially the sense of dream and nostalgia. I also try to create a reflective space in my work and invite the audience to feel the inspiring moments in ordinary life.
