IZBA LAB’s mission is to shine a spotlight on the creativity and dedication of artisans who actively develop and sustain their endangered heritage traditions. Their efforts are too often obscured within the fashion value chain with their traditions culturally appropriated.

Project draws from the belief that craft is a universal language that transcends borders and collaboration serves as a catalyst for innovation. That’s why IZBA Lab brings together artisans from diverse geographical locations and cultural backgrounds. The initiative’s mission is to showcase not just their skills but also their boundless creativity. By working with an open brief, artisans have a rare freedom for creative expression, a departure from the often rigid constraints imposed by brands or designers.

At this stage, project proudly showcases the remarkable work of two artisans: Margarita Charalambous from Pano Lefkara in Cyprus and Wieslawa Juroszek from Koniakow in Poland. Their canvas is a long linen piece, a cherished heirloom passed down through generations to Margarita from her grandmother. This continuous form serves as the base, symbolising the ongoing journey of the project leaving space for future artisan collaborators.
As the work travels among various locations, it will continue to collect a diverse range of artisanal techniques, each contributing to its evolving story.

IZBA LAB is about the process, curiosity and collaboration exploring new creative territories for tradition.
