“Using the Domestic to Confront”

Exploring how the public interacts with the personal divulgence of an artist.

This installation depicts my increasing frustration with my chronic nosebleeds, interrupting my daily life and staining the areas I find comfort in. The blood stains became such an integral part of my project as a mark that not only expresses a bodily fluid often hidden but proof of my own body existing in that space.

The nature of the materials I used ultimately leaves the installation quite fragile in appearance and interaction, where when the viewer is asked to interact with the piece it threatens to fall. This forces the viewer to be careful and conscious where they move, playing into the idea that they are navigating something extremely personal and previously unwitnessed.
