I Carry Your Heart   a/w 23  POPPY HARRISON

Immersing myself in the stories told by my mum of our Scottish family heritage, the story of our ancestor Sir James Douglas who brought back the heart of the King of Scotland on a necklace after he died in battle, the narrative behind the heart which is now centre of the family crest.

This act of service embodies elements of traditions and ceremonies that have been forgotten to our past. Now realising the importance of rituals and their obsessive nature, I explore elements of tradition including the movement of water, birds in flight, jewellery, family heirlooms, dance and imitation.

Portfolio pages showing mood, line up, print development and knit close-ups.
