The art piece I chose from the brief with Tate is The Promised Land by Michael Armitage, which depicts a massive demonstration based on the 2017 election in Kenya. The purpose of this video is to tell a story about an audience who is interested in a work of art but has difficulty understanding the work in depth. Based on the audio from Armitage’s interview, it consists of a development that reveals very large-scale paintings in detail, collages various images and photos to explain the paintings in detail, and finally releases the entire painting.
