Fashion Source is a tabloid style newspaper of my dissertation that focuses on cultural appropriation in the fashion industry by highlighting one of the most publicised lawsuits in the media between the Navajo Nation and Urban Outfitters. The publication highlights how the taking of culture when done in a non-ethical way harms a source community with details from the lawsuit about what was appropriated, how this affected the tribe and how the infringement was eventually settled along with the public reaction to the case. Highlighting cultural appropriation in this way shows just how exploitive it is when a global retailer gets their hands on the cultural identity of an indigenous people and why this colonising of culture must stop.

Using a newspaper publication to report back the case and issues of cultural appropriation felt the most applicable format to publish my dissertation.
