The ‘Slung’ Lounge Chair is designed to be an accompaniment to a lounge or living room. Taking a recognisable shape of a sling chair and other lounge chairs and testing the capabilities of stretched fabric.

The main frame is constructed from bent steel tube which is connected to each other by a series of different connections. For each side, the tubes are connected by metal inserts which the user can bolt together to create a rigid structure. For the stretch part, the tubes are connected by plastic connectors which slot into the ends and lock onto the inside of the tube.

The fabric section is made by a series of stitched loops where the user can slot the tubes through to create the rest of the structure. Inside of the top and bottom there are varying thicknesses of foam which lessens the amount of stress the tube puts on the body part touching it. This creates a more comfortable seating position.

‘Slung’ is available in a series of different colours and shades of fabric which allows it to be able to fit into most living rooms. Due to its simple and unintrusive shape, ‘Slung’ is suitable for all age groups, young or old, and is designed to be useable and long lasting.

Designed as a lounge chair for domestic use, ‘Slung’ takes the design premise of traditional sling chairs and revolutionises this to make them more comfort. Whilst also focusing on the comfort, ‘Slung’ also demonstrates the capabilities of a single sheet of fabric.
