Product & Furniture Design BA

This course is a unique blend of creative thinking and expert making. It’s delivered by practicing designers and practice-based academics. We get our hands dirty working with new materials and processes, pushing our students to develop new products and services, reflecting contemporary design agendas. We work closely with the design community and major industry players on “live” industry projects. This gives students the opportunity to experience the real design world and all its’ challenges.

Our projects include new furniture, homewares, and consumer products. Industrial products and new technology concepts run alongside sustainable and social based design solutions.

The action of “making” is the signature of the course. Skills are nurtured over the three years and designs are developed and perfected through the construction of models, rigs, prototypes, and manufactured designs.

The course is supported by a large 3D workshop where expert technical help and full prototyping facilities are available to all students. The students are expected to be hands on, developing their own model prototypes and final designs.
